NFL Week 3 Picks (Winners and Spread)! Jags or Chargers? Bills or Dolphins?

NFL Week 3 Picks (Winners and Spread)! Jags or Chargers? Bills or Dolphins?

The NFL season has already been so crazy. If you would have told me last season or in the offseason that the Titans (#1 seed in the AFC in 2021), the Raiders (#6 seed in the AFC in 2021) and the Bengals (defending AFC champions) would all start off 0-2, I would have had you go through a series of tests to still make sure you were okay. I did not expect the Jacksonville Jaguars to be leading the AFC South and actually be secretly competitive. There are upsets every single week, so this is what I think is going to happen in this week of football. (Sorry I was not able to record a podcast this weekend to preview the games)

Ravens @ Patriots (Ravens -2.5) Winner: Baltimore | Spread: Baltimore

Texans @ Bears (Bears -3) Winner: Houston | Spread: Houston

I think the Texans have bee secretly competitive this season, tying with the Indianapolis Colts and then hanging around with the Denver Broncos. I understand Chicago had their upset win against San Francisco, but I think it was a fluke. I think their offense won’t be able to score on a Texans defense that has only allowed 18 points per game, and Houston will win by a score!

Raiders @ Titans (Raiders -2) Winner: Las Vegas | Spread: Las Vegas

Unless they tie (which would just be an AFC South tradition), one of these surprisingly winless teams is going to have a win. And I think it will be the Las Vegas Raiders. They are just a few plays away from being 2-0, and one of the best teams in the NFL. They’ve shown a lot of potential. Especially with injuries in Tennessee, I just don’t feel confident that they can win this game, and they’ll have no answer for Davante Adams!

Chiefs @ Colts (Chiefs -5.5) Winner: Kansas City | Spread: Kansas City

I know some are saying this is going to be a trap game for Kansas City, which it could be, but the Colts have been so despicably terrible so far this season, tying with the Texans and then being shut out by the Jaguars. I think Indianapolis will keep this closer than some may expect throughout the game, but Kansas City will definitely win this game!

Bills @ Dolphins (Bills -5) Winner: Miami | Spread: Miami

I think the Buffalo Bills, the undisputed best team in football, will take a loss in Miami in Week 3. And this is one of my more confident picks. The Dolphins are going to throw all over a Bills secondary that is missing Tre’Davious White, Dane Jackson and Micah Hyde, not to mention their also missing defensive tackles Ed Oliver and Jordan Philips, which means will Tua will have time to throw to these fast, quick wide receivers. Give me Miami in a shootout!

Lions @ Vikings (Vikings -6) Winner: Minnesota | Spread: Detroit

The Lions have been surprisingly competitive so far this season without Jameson Williams. They only lost by three points in a shootout with Philadelphia, and then responded with a two possession win over Washington. Goff has been throwing the ball well, Amon-Ra St. Brown and D’Andre Swift have been playing well, but they won’t have an answer for Justin Jefferson. It will be close, but I like Minnesota.

Bengals @ Jets (Bengals -6) Winner: Cincinnati | Spread: Cincinnati

I would have not expected to say that the New York Jets have a better record than the Cincinnati Bengals going into this matchup. But I am! But Cincinnati is the better overall team. Burrow is going to have a fun time finding Ja’Marr Chase, Tee Higgins and Tyler Boyd, while Joe Mixon will run all over this team on the ground. I think Joe Flacco will another decent game, passing for a lot of yards, but the Bengals win convincingly, also due to a lack of pass rush in New York that won’t give Burrow any trouble!

Eagles @ Commanders (Eagles -6.5) Winner: Philadelphia | Spread: Washington

I can easily see this a trap game for the Eagles. I think they aren’t as good of a team as the Power Rankings will say they are. I also think Carson’s Wentz has been playing amazing football this season and could give the Eagles secondary some trouble, even though they were able to have a very good performance against Justin Jefferson. Washington has a chance and will keep it close, but I do think Philadelphia will close it out in a tight one.

Saints @ Panthers (Saints -2.5) Winner: New Orleans | Spread: New Orleans

I think Carolina is the most overrated team in the NFL. Yes, I get they’re a few points away from being 2-0 compared to 0-2, but I’ve never had confidence in Baker Mayfield. However, New Orleans is also a little overrated. But in general, they are just a much better overall team than Carolina. They just held Tom Brady to 20 points. Their defense is going to be stellar in a Week 3 win!

Jaguars @ Chargers (Chargers -7) Winner: Jacksonville | Spread: Jacksonville

This is my upset pick of the week! I think the Jacksonville Jaguars are going to carry the dominance they had against the Colts and bring over this game in Los Angeles. I have a lot of confidence in this pick. I think the Chargers defense does have some issues, and I think Christian Kirk is going to have a really good game. With Justin Herbert a game time decision, I just think the Jacksonville Jaguars and my guy Dr. Kevin Elko will get the win!

Rams @ Cardinals (Rams -3.5) Winner: Los Angeles | Spread: Los Angeles

I think this is the game where Los Angeles finally starts to look like themselves. Cooper Kupp will play amazing as usual, but the Rams (aka Matthew Stafford) will cut down the turnovers significantly–Stafford has thrown a league leading five interceptions already this season–because Arizona likes to blitz. According to Cynthia Frelund, Arizona blitzed Kansas City over 50% of the time in Week 1, and Matthew Stafford has 139.2 passer rating since the beginning of last season when the defense is blitzing (no one in the NFL has been better) and a reason why the Bills succeeded was because they didn’t blitz him. If the running game gets open, they’re going to have to blitz and it could be a brutal time in Arizona!

Falcons @ Seahawks (Seahawks -0.5) Winner: Atlanta | Spread: Atlanta

I think the Seahawks Week 1 win against Denver was a fluke, and we saw that in Week 2. Atlanta has been sniffing 2-0, but instead is 0-2. Cordarrelle Patterson has been running the ball extremely well, and the Seahawks offense won’t play amazing either. I think Seattle will hang around, but I like Atlanta to win by a long one possession!

Packers @ Buccaneers (Buccaneers -1) Winner: Green Bay | Spread: Green Bay

I find it very hard to think Tampa Bay is going to win this game. Yes of course they have Tom Brady and Leonard Fournette, but Mike Evans (suspension), Chris Godwin (injury) and Julio Jones (injury) are all out for the game. He’s going to have to go to players like Russell Gage, Breshad Perriman (who are going to be playing injured) or Cameron Brate, and Green Bay’s defense will shut that down. Don’t doubt Tom Brady, but I’m going Green Bay!

49ers @ Broncos (49ers -1.5) Winner: San Francisco | Spread: San Francisco

Russell Wilson is going against his former division rival, but I am picking San Francisco pretty confidently. I’ve always thought they shouldn’t have traded up for Trey Lance in the first place, and Jimmy Garoppolo has lead this team to a Super Bowl and an NFC championship in two of the past three seasons. He will be able to score enough points in this offense, and Denver’s offense (which struggled against Houston’s defense) is not going to do much on the 49ers defense. Give me San Fran!

Cowboys @ Giants (Giants -1) Winner: Dallas | Spread: Dallas

I really like the Cowboys in this game. Like, a lot! We saw that the Cooper Rush led offense is able to score around 20 points. But it’s about defense. The Giants have only scored 20 points per game this season. I think the Cowboys defense is going to get pressure on Daniel Jones, which will force turnovers, and the Cowboys also have an amazing run defense to shut down Saquon. I think the Giants offense will struggle because of the Cowboys defense, the Cowboys offense will do enough and get a win in a low scoring Monday Night game!

Thank you guys for reading this! Let’s see what happens in football this week! Go Ravens!
