The NFL trades continue! Superstar pass rusher Khalil Mack, 31, was just sent to the Los Angeles Chargers in exchange for a 2022 2nd round pick and a 2023 6th round pick.
Mack spent 4 years in Chicago, nearly winning his 2nd defensive player of the year award after getting 2nd in 2018. Mack had 36 total sacks in Chicago, just 4.5 less than he had in Oakland (Las Vegas) for the same amount of seasons (4). The former defensive player of the year made the Pro Bowl 3 times in Chicago, 1 All Pro appearance in 2018. Mack had a 29-24 record in Chicago, most notably having a 12-4 season, also in 2018.
The Chargers don’t just have Mack as well. Joey Bosa, 26, has spent all of his 6 seasons with the Chargers. 4 of those seasons, Bosa has double digit sacks. Bosa has also made 4 Pro Bowls. He has 58 total sacks in his career. The Chargers have now 2 edge rushers who have played great football since 2018. The list below is where Mack and Bosa rank when it comes to most sacks for a player since 2018 according to Stat Muse:
Mack ranks 9th with 36 sacks and Bosa ranks 13th with 35 sacks.
The Bears are still in a good spot when it comes to their pass rush. Robert Quinn, 31, has made 3 Pro Bowls and is coming off a season where he produced 18.5 sacks, somehow not a career high. Robert Quinn ranked 8th on that list above, higher than Mack and Bosa. Roquan Smith is also coming off a 3 sack season. He does have potential to do great things in the future. With those 2, the Bears pass rush will still be right there in 2022!
Fun Fact: Robert Quinn spent 7 years with STL/LA, but the Rams, not the Chargers!
