Chase Coburn Bio:
I am Chase Coburn, a 12 year old sports broadcaster who resides in Connecticut. My love for sports began when I was just seven years old, where my Washington Capitals finally took home the Stanley Cup in 2018. From that point, I knew as much about the Capitals and all of their players as much as anybody in the world. That passion ended up spreading across all of my sports teams; Orioles, Ravens, Wizards and Connecticut Huskies Men’s Basketball.
But it wasn’t until a 2020 summer that was ruined by Covid-19 that I developed my love for broadcasting, which came at the Play-By-Play Sports Broadcasting Virtual Camps. I used the lessons they taught me over the three week period and made it my number one goal; to create a podcast. So from posting every day of a month in 4th grade on a private YouTube channel (all videos may never be shown to the public), and hard work and research, I finally started Wiz Talk with Chase, a podcast all about the Washington Wizards.
There, I’ve posted nearly 300 episodes, had on the teams announcer, and achieved a great amount of success. Then, fast forward to the middle of my fifth grade year, where I started the Cool Sports Network and Chase’s Sports News, where I’ve spent hours and hours of time working, interviewing, researching and thinking about how I was going to get these ideas and content I was creating to the public.
So I didn’t stop there. Want a newsletter breaking down a plethora of topics including series about your favorite teams? Why not. That’s where the Cool Sports Newsletter was launched. Want to start a YouTube show with two other aspiring sports broadcasters and get to over 160 subscribers and 15 thousand views? Why not. That’s where Sports 4 Kids started. And then sharing these ideas with my school, I’ve now started what I like to think of as the best kids news show in the world, where I’ve created a whole team of editors and writers to create a weekly news show and live stream basketball games to the public.
I’ve been pleased to say my work has gone a long way. I’ve been on some really cool shows, and talked to some really cool people. I’ve interviewed a variety of people, from singers, to authors, to entrepreneur’s, to announcers, to coaches, to professional and collegiate sports players, and more. I love what I do when I get home from school every single day, and that to me is what drives me to continue to get better and produce content to you guys. Broadcasting is a passion of mine. It has been for a while, and it always will be. And I’m going to do whatever I can to make it so that more people besides me also appreciate that passion!
